“Pure mathematics is the highest form of art.”
The pursuit of abstract mathematical beauty, driven by elegance and intrinsic curiosity rather than practical application, produces creations of profound intellectual and aesthetic value, comparable to great music or poetry.

5I totally agree. When I see a really elegant proof, it feels like listening to a perfect melody. It's beautiful because it's pure and doesn't need a 'use' to be valuable, just like a poem.
But art connects to human emotion and experience. Can a complex equation really make you feel joy or sorrow the way a song or a painting can? Math feels more like discovery than creation.
What do you mean by 'highest'? Highest in what way? Is it more valuable than other arts, or just different? I think calling it the 'highest' puts down other beautiful forms of human expression.
I see the beauty in math, but calling it the 'highest' art is a stretch. It's a unique language of patterns. Some arts, like music, are more directly shared and felt by everyone. Math's beauty is amazing, but it's not superior.
I get the comparison. Both math and art are about finding patterns and simplicity in complexity. But for me, the 'art' in math is in the 'aha!' moment of understanding, which is a very personal kind of beauty.
