Education is a right, not a privilege for the rich. Society benefits from a more educated population. We pay for public schools, so we should also pay for the next level of essential learning.

I agree education is a right, but calling a bachelor's 'essential' like high school is a stretch. We fund K-12 because it's a baseline for citizenship. College is often career-specific training. Should taxpayers fund someone's art history degree as freely as a nurse's? The goal should be targeted subsidies for needed fields, not a blanket free-for-all.
